Associates Volunteer at the Special Olympics Summer Games

Volunteer Activity Coincides with Hyatt’s Global Corporate Responsibility Program

BOSTON, MA (June 2013) – In support of Hyatt Thrive, Hyatt’s global corporate responsibility platform, Hyatt Boston Harbor, Hyatt Regency Boston and Hyatt Regency Cambridge are giving back to the community by engaging in a volunteer day with Special Olympics Massachusetts.

Over thirty associates from the three Hyatt’s in Boston and Cambridge volunteered at Harvard University for the Special Olympics MA, Summer Games– joining Hyatt colleagues around the world in a month-long effort to give back to their local communities.  At the Summer Games, Hyatt associates assisted in the Track and Field events, escorting athletes  to and from events, timing events, watching for disqualifications, assisting with award distribution and much more.

The Special Olympics volunteer day is a key tenet of Hyatt Thrive and part of Hyatt’s Global Volunteer Initiative, a brand-wide effort that encourages Hyatt associates to improve the many communities around the world that they call home.

Hyatt Thrive empowers over 90,000 associates at more than 480 properties around the world to help communities do one thing – thrive – by focusing on four areas: environmental sustainability; economic development and investment; education and personal advancement; and health and wellness.

The Hyatt’s in Boston and Cambridge are dedicated to the local communities and the associates are honored to be a part of Hyatt’s Global Volunteer Initiative, assisting Special Olympics. Hyatt Thrive is a natural extension of Hyatt’s mission, which is to provide authentic hospitality by making a difference in the lives of people they come in contact with every day.

The volunteer work also coincides with a long-standing tradition of celebrating Hyatt associates around the world. Celebrating community and its people is a global demonstration of Hyatt’s dedication to thriving communities where associates live and work.
